17-7 PH® Stainless Steel Wire Mesh – Alloy Overview
17-7 PH stainless steel wire mesh is a precipitation-hardened stainless steel, and thus has excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and hardness properties. In addition, 17-7 PH exhibits good formability, fatigue, and is only minimally distorted when heat-treated. It is particularly useful for parts requiring strength in temperatures up to 800ºF. Some characteristics of 17-7 PH stainless steel wire cloth which dictate its use are:
- Precipitation-hardened stainless steel.
- Less frequently used stainless steel alloy in the industrial wire cloth world (T-304 & T-316 being the most common).
- Less magnetic than other precipitation-hardened stainless steels.
- Withstands outdoor exposure without rusting.
- Superior corrosion resistance in broad range of industrial and chemical settings.
- High strength at relatively low temperatures (930°F – 1450°F); distortion is minimized.
- Can be cut, formed, and welded.
