Aluminum Alloy 6101 Wire Mesh – Alloy Overview
Aluminum alloy 6101 wire mesh is a precipitation-hardened family “6000 series” aluminum alloy. It offers one of the highest levels of both electrical and thermal conductivity among all the “6000 series” aluminum alloys. When compared to aluminum alloy 1350, aluminum alloy 6101 offers comparable levels of electrical conductivity (slightly lower) while providing much greater strength. As with other aluminum alloys, aluminum 6101 offers excellent corrosion resistance, even in extremely corrosive environments. It is primarily alloyed with both added magnesium (0.525%) and silicon (0.5%), which allow AA 6101 to respond to heat-treatment, and support its general corrosion resistance. Some characteristics of aluminum alloy 6101 wire cloth which dictate its use are:

Industries & Applications
Aluminum alloy 6101 wire cloth is principally used in electronics and other applications where high conductivity and moderate strength are required. In situations where similar levels of electrical conductivity as offered by AA 1350 are required, but greater strength is needed, aluminum alloy 6101 is often substituted.
